When I was working as a Tour Guide it was with pride that I led tourists through the halls of the great Karnak temple. I could see astonishment and admiration in the eyes of visitors seeing this artistic miracle which the ancient Egyptians achieved five thousand years ago. I could also see frustration in the knowledge that photographs could not truly capture this art. Wishing to find a way that visitors could take the spirit of the temple wall art home with them, I decided to transfer these scenes from the temple walls to the old Papyrus papers, and try as much as possible to keep the spirit of the scene and at the same time it's originality and antiquity.
The result is a new type of relief papyrus. The colors are the same muted tones as are found on the temple walls. The background media contribute to the antique impression of the art. |
